After working 20+ years in Corporate America, Kristina Govan was, in a word, unfulfilled. Where many find their self-worth and purpose in climbing the corporate ladder in a 9-to-5, Govan found her true purpose and passion when she was suddenly laid off for two years. Whereas she once thought being a good parent meant providing her children with the basic necessities and fulfilling their every want and desire, she now knows that she couldn’t have been more wrong. While she still holds a position in Corporate America today, she stopped pursuing lavish titles and corporate accolades and chooses to daily pursue the road less traveled—the road as a mompreneur.

Eighteen years later, her passion for business, ministry and the success of other people is stronger than it’s ever been before.

In her career at a governmental agency, she is yet developing her passionate purpose. Having sat in the seat many times before, she understands firsthand what it was like to be poverty-stricken—and to come out on the other side of it victoriously. So, where the system sees someone who is broke, broken and destitute, she sees a mother who is full of potential, gifts and talents, but simply needs someone to awaken those traits within. That alone is her mission.

That’s why she formed Mommy-Owned, a business that supports, mentors and motivates women to tap into their God-given talents and gifts--turning women into full-time mompreneurs and their gifts into viable streams of income. In addition to time freedom, women worldwide are able to raise their children, maintain the home and cultivate the family as a whole—which ultimately results in stronger family units long-term.

As a successful mompreneur of nine, she helps other mompreneurs find resources and strategies, which enable them to provide for the family—without sacrificing time with the family. Where others may see nothing, Govan sees a business in almost everything and everyone around her. And once the fire has been lit with a creative idea for business development, she won’t let it be quenched until she sees the business flourish. With her proven success in running three home-based businesses, including Mommy-Owned, Seeds of Prosperity, LLC, and Prosperity Travel—and her career in Corporate America--she’s committed to using every stumbling block in life as a stepping stone to her success.

It is through her transparency and candid motivation that she proves to mompreneurs and entrepreneurs alike that, no matter what odds seem to be stacked up against them, they can still win. Her calling, her mandate is not only to position women to support their families—but to allow them to gain a new outlook, confidence and identity as an entrepreneur—knowing they have the ability to transform the world right from their very own homes.
